Welcome to the Parent Academy! You know. We know. YOUR FAMILY MATTERS!
Would you like to know more about the social and physical well-being of your family? Parents meet to talk about positive child growth and development, promoting healthy and active youths, advocating for positive home environments, positive parent-child relationships, couple well-being, and family and community interface. This program promotes families connecting within the community to develop a social support network system by partnering with other families in the network system.
Our goal is to provide a friendly educational and social environment to talk about current family issues. Some of the topics discussed during our meetings include building a strong relationship with your child, different parenting styles, talking about risks (drugs, sexuality, and violence) with your child, making healthy lifestyle choices at all ages, how to be more physically active as a family, gardening for healthier eating, mutual respect, problem-handling models, active communication, responsibility, freedom and limits to freedom, effective discipline, knowing food groups, and healthy cooking. Lincoln Parish Library provides a community gathering room ever second Thursday of the month at 6:00 pm for Parent Academy: Your Family Matters. Children are welcome to come along and spend the hour with the library staff in the children’s reading and activity section. Please take your time to browse our site for information you may find interesting. We have developed a few online education modules for you to view at your convenience. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email us. |
